Anaheim Duck's Shawn Horcoff suspended

The Anaheim Duck’s Shawn Horcoff was suspended for twenty games without pay for violation of rules and terms regarding performance enhancing substance abuse program. He has been charged with a Substance Abuse and Behavior Health violation.

Shawn entered the program known as NHL/NHLPA performance boosting substance package. With reference of the terms of the collective bargaining agreement finalized between the player and the league, the suspension is mandatory as is enrollment in the NHL/NHLPA program for evaluation, substance abuse, and possible treatment. The 37 year-old was playing his first season. He has a record of 10 points in 45 games.

Horcoff stated, “I was suffering from some injuries; I tried a treatment to speed up the process of healing and I was unfamiliar that these types of drugs or treatment were not allowed under NHL regulations, but I checked into the NHL/NHLPA performance enhancing substance program on my own. I accepted my negligence for my irresponsible attitude, and I apologize. I have felt honored to play such as great game but I regret the impact of this on my fans.”

Shawn Horcoff will be eligible to join the team on March 11, 2016 for the game which would have been held on Jan 22, 2016 and postponed due to the winter storm that hit eastern America.
