Yoga for Weight Gain

Most of us associate exercise or yoga with weight-loss. But exercise in its entirety is all about keeping you fit. Being underweight means you are not fit and your body is not absorbing the nutrients that it should.

Here are some Yogasanas that can help you gain weight which when combined with good and nutritious diets can help you gain weight.

Sarvangasana (Shoulder Stand) for Healthy Thyroid Function

One common reason for a person to be underweight is an overactive thyroid gland, called hyperthyroidism. Shoulder pose, is extremely effective in balancing the activity of the thyroid, and thus regulating the metabolism to normal speeds.

Matsyasana (Fish Pose) for Toning the Abdomen and Increasing Appetite

Matsyasana improves the digestive system, increasing appetite and nutrient absorption helping to spread gained weight evenly around the body, rather than accumulating on the belly.

Vajrasana (Diamond Pose)

Also known as the thunderbolt pose, it plays a major role in improving the level of digestion, ensuring better absorption of nutrients, promoting weight gain.

Pavanamuktasana (Wind-Relieving Pose)

This pose is normally advised for alleviating assorted gastric problems, including indigestion and constipation. Better the digestive power, the better the nutrient absorption for your body.

Savasana (Corpse Pose) for Balancing the Mind and Physical Body

Corpse Pose is where the body and mind have the optimal ability to harmonize and is a way to balance internal systems without physical activity. The pose helps increase stamina through focused and deep breathing, also increasing appetite by tuning into the body.
