Three athletic women who are over the age of 50

These women are fitter, stronger and healthier than most of us! They have accomplished great many things in their lives and continue to do so in spite of battling cancer, injuries and even surgeries. Their competitive spirit keeps them going.

MARJORIE TEMPLETON is 80 years old now and she works out in the gym at least 3 times a week! Marjorie lifts weights, does cardio, and always includes stretching. But that’s just at the gym. During the rest of the week, she teaches and supervises martial art classes, more specifically, Tae Kwon Do, in the school she helped found. She actually started exercising at the age of 49, when she joined her daughters in their Tae Kwon Do classes. Marjorie says keeping a schedule for workouts and pursuing her passions keep her going and keep her young.

LORETTA HILL is currently 68 years old and joined a basketball game for fun at the age of 46 and hasn’t looked back since. She is now part of the Senior Olympic Games. The team also plays in games nationwide. She says her teammates are her life now and she can’t imagine a life without them; they just have so much fun! She has been doing aerobic exercises three times a week since she was 30 years old. Her fitness routine includes a multitude of activities including tennis, ballroom dancing, weight-lifting, cardio, softball, and abs workouts.

LAUREN FITHIAN, who is 50, is an ultra-distance athlete, and almost always is the only senior among her competitors. Her main goal is to be an inspiration to other seniors and to encourage them by being an example. She trains 2-3 hours every day. She is preparing herself for an upcoming 200-mile and 500-mile race over the Hawaiian roads.
